Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good, and that directly supports the National Community Pharmacists Association Foundation’s (NCPAF) mission to improve community-based healthcare access by supporting efforts that promote the sustainability and growth of independent community pharmacists, the most accessible healthcare provider, through scholarships, grants, and ownership development.
It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life, particularly for the communities served by independent pharmacies. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in NCPAF, we strive to provide the following rights to donors:
- To be informed of the organization’s mission and of the way the organization intends to use donated resources.
- To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
- To have access to the organization’s most recent 990 tax statement(s).
- To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition, as determined by the NCPAF in its reasonable discretion and to support the donor’s preference as closely as possible.
- To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality.
- To expect that all relationships with individuals representing NCPAF to the donor will be professional in nature.
- To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization, or hired solicitors.
- To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from marketing lists.
- To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive answers from knowledgeable NCPAF staff.
NCPAF shall use reasonable efforts to provide the foregoing rights and benefits to donors, but donors understand and agree that NCPAF shall have no liability if it is unable to provide any of the benefits or rights outlined in these guidelines.
